Aadhaar Card has become increasingly important in India for almost anything. You can’t have a bank account, phone number, PAN Card, LPG Connection without an Aadhaar Card. This has also helped the organizations in delivering better services to the customers. There could soon be a time when linking Aadhaar could be compulsory with IRCTC Next Generation Portal – www.irctc.co.in
Presently, it is optional to link your Aadhaar card to the portal and if you wish to link the Aadhaar card then you can use your IRCTC Next Generation Login details to link the Aadhaar card. However, it is mandatory for you to verify PAN or Aadhaar Details for activating Aadhaar card.
Coming to the point, why we said it is mandatory to link Aadhaar is that IRCTC has announced several benefits for the passenger for linking Aadhaar. Apart from this, there are also some restrictions for the IRCTC users if they have not linked the Aadhaar card. Below are more details about the same.
- If the Aadhaar card has not been linked to IRCTC then the passenger won’t be able to book more than 6 tickets in a month. The limit is higher for the passengers if the Aadhaar card is linked with IRCTC Next Gen Portal. This limit is capped at 12 tickets a month.
- It should also be noted that the owner of the account should link his Aadhaar number as the mismatch in Aadhaar card details and the name of the account holder will invalidate the process and you will have to link the Aadhaar card again.
So technically speaking, we stated the fact when we said that it is mandatory to link Aadhaar to book tickets because you won’t be able to book more than 6 tickets in a calendar month if you have not linked your IRCTC account with the Aadhaar card. If you are a frequent traveller then you must link them today and do not worry about the privacy as your data remains safe and your personal data would not be shared or misused by any third-party.
